Marc Jacobs has announced that he will embark on another business that is different from what he has worked on before. He plans on going into the makeup industry with a whole new line of cosmetics, in collaboration with Sephora. In an interview with WWD, Marc express his excitement about the upcoming cosmetics line:
“I see makeup, fragrance — everything, really — as an opportunity. The idea of choosing a color for your lip, or an eyeliner — it’s just such a delight. The ritual of waking up and making those choices is something people really enjoy. We currently are working on defining what Marc Jacobs cosmetics will be, what they’ll say, what makes them distinctive. I think that will take some time, but the first meeting was good.”
If you’ve been on MarcJacobs.com recently, you’ve probably taken notice to the newly designed site. Along with the new design is a brand new e-commerce addition to the site.

Marc Jacobs is doing something completely different from every other designer. Jacobs opened up his own bookstore in West Village, NYC. “The store will not be the typical bookstore with bestsellers and novels, Bestsellers? No. Not unless it’s a friend of mine, he says of his inventory. We’ve developed a very big business in books. It’s more art books, it’s more photography books, and then it’s very personal to the company. We have the luxury of picking somebody and commissioning something. I can ask one of the people that I work with that’s an artist that inspires me to do something, and we can make a book.” The store will also have vinyl records, CDs, a line of Bookmarc colored pencils and notebooks and customized Bookmarc.
Fashion designer Marc Jacobs is set to release a new men’s fragrance collection called Bang. The fragrance is his second men’s scent in almost a decade, since he introduced Marc Jacobs for Men. The campaign for the new fragrance features a provocative picture of Jacobs laying on a bed of shiny Mylar background covered only by the Bang fragrance bottle. To celebrate, he threw a big party in London at Harvey Nichols where celebs like Mischa Barton, Diana Vickers and Pixi Lott showed up.
