Gucci takes another step at going green by offering a new line of eco-friendly sunglasses. The Italian fashion house has worked with eyewear giant Safilo to develop an eyewear collection made from eco-sustainable materials. The collection will use materials such as an acetate that contains a much higher percentage of naturally occurring ingredients compared to traditional acetate and castor-oil seeds as an alternative to plastic.
Gucci and Safilo will introduce four eyewear styles in August. The sunglasses are expected to hit Gucci and select retail stores in October while prescription frames in late September.
Gucci unveils its new ad campaign for the special edition Fiat 500 by Gucci featuring model Natasha Poly. The ad campaign shot by Mert and Marcus in Rome will appear in newspapers and lifestyle magazines starting this month. Gucci creative director Frida Giannini customized the special edition Fiat 500 in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Gucci brand.

To promote his first book Decoded, Jay-Z partners up with Gucci. Pages of the book have been placed in various places such as the bottom of the pool of the Delano hotel in Miami and underneath plates at the Spotted Pig restaurant in New York in efforts to advertise the release which hit bookshelves on November 16.
Gucci revealed two of the pages in the windows of its Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York. Printed on the lining of a one-of-kind leather bomber jacket designed by creative director Frida Giannini is the breakdown to the lyrics of Blue Magic.
