Christian Dior wins bid for one of the most famous fashion images of all time: Richard Avedon’s 1955 photo “Dovima With Elephants”. According to WWD, the image of Dovima, dressed in a Dior evening gown at the Cirque Hiver, went for 841,000 euros, or $1.1 million at current exchange rates.
John Galliano, creative director of Christian Dior, has designed a Christmas tree for the renowned London hotel Claridge. The tree stands 20 ft high and is made up of paper-mache, paper and polystyrene. Its inspiration from icy snow scenes, mixed with a tropical twist, dominates the hotel’s lobby. The tree is painted in white and metallic blue and settled on the branches are a handmade leopard, several parrots and a dragonfly. This partnership marks the first time in the hotel’s 112-year history that Claridge’s has worked with a famed fashion designer on its Christmas tree.

Gisele Bundchen is featured in the new Christian Dior Spring/Summer 2009 ad campaign. According to Forbes, she is the highest paid supermodel in the world with a net worth of $150 million. The photo shoot was taken by highly praised fashion photographer Craig McDean. McDean has done work for clients such as Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Oscar de la Renta, Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, and more. Check out the rest of the campaign below.

Christian Dior has finally come out with its own branded cell phone. Taking a whole totally different design concept from the LG PRADA. The Christian Dior phone comes embedded with swarovski crystals and will feature a touchscreen display, camera, and novel, mini-phone extender, and will be about the size of a USB key.
An official announcement from the company will be released this Friday (May 16,2008). The phone was made in partnership with a french manufacture called Mode Labs which has produced cell phones for TAG Heuer’s & Levi’s.
